How to Farm 2000 Voidlight Marl Per Hour in WoW Midnight
If you’re grinding Voidlight Marl in World of Warcraft: Midnight, this is the big one. The method in this guide is currently the fastest and most efficient way to farm the currency everyone needs for gear, professions, mounts, and more. We’re talking 2000 Voidlight Marl per hour — and yes, it’s real.
This strategy blew up after we mapped every single prey source back in beta (January 2026). Now literally every top farmer uses it. Here’s exactly how it works.
Step 1: Unlock Random Prey Hunts (Rank 2 Required)
The Prey system is Midnight’s open-world bounty hunting activity. You talk to the Prey NPC (Astalor Bloodsworn in Silvermoon City’s Murder Row) to pick up hunts.
Normal difficulty: 4 weekly quests
Hard difficulty: 4 weekly quests
Nightmare difficulty: 4 more quests (unlocks the week after Season 1 starts)
The first two quests on each difficulty give gear. The other two give extra Voidlight Marl + more journey progress.
Once you hit Prey Journey Rank 2, you unlock Random Hunts. This is the money maker.
The NPC will now give you a completely random prey target in any zone. You can choose Normal or Hard mode.
Costs 50 Remnant of Anguish to start
You get that 50 back + extra on average
After finishing a Hard hunt you can pick your reward: gold, veteran track progress, Remnant of Anguish, or Voidlight Marl
This is what most people spam to cap their weekly quests and currency.
The Fastest Method: World Quest + Trap Spam (“Trap and Go”)
Here’s the exact rotation that hits 150 Voidlight Marl every ~5 minutes (1,800/hour).
Open your world map and find the Prey World Quest in any zone.
Fly there and complete the World Quest first.
This unlocks easier access to the traps in that zone.
Once the WQ is done, start clicking traps (the glowing red crystals/ambush points that spawn around the prey path).
Repeat trap → turn-in → new trap. Over and over.
That’s it. Trap and go. Trap and go.
Minmax Tip: Only Do “Chase the Prey” World Quests
Not all Prey World Quests are equal. There are three types:
Click 5 empowering things (slowest – avoid)
Fill a bar + kill mobs (medium)
Chase the prey (FASTEST – this is the one you want)
When the World Quest is the chase type, the traps spawn linearly along the exact path the prey took. No random flying up/down/left/right across the whole zone. You just follow the path and click every trap in order.
This is what pushes you to 150 Marl every 5 minutes instead of 7–8.
Pro move: Check the World Quest before you start. If it’s not a chase, finish it anyway (you still need it for trap access), but next time you see a chase WQ pop up — jump on it immediately.

Why This Beats Everything Else
We tested every other source (rares, regular world quests, delves, treasures, etc.). Nothing comes close to the trap-spam loop once you have the right World Quest active. It’s brain-dead simple, scales with alts, and works on Normal or Hard difficulty.
