Dalaran Revealed in Xal'atath’s Eyes: Midnight Teaser Analysis

Blizzard has just dropped a 'Doorstep Teaser' for their upcoming Midnight reveal at Gamescom next week. Not only does it hint at a possible in-game event, but it also offers short glimpses of Xal'atath in the new cinematic! We catch sight of her striking elven features, along with a few clues about what the cinematic might contain.

One of the most striking moments shows Xal'atath standing over a kneeling elf. Judging from the unique design of the sword, the armor, and the signature high white ponytail, it looks very much like Lor'themar Theron, the leader of the blood elves. How he ended up in this vulnerable position is still a mystery, but considering Xal'atath's history with her adversaries, things aren't looking good for the Regent-Lord.

Reflections in Xal'atath's eyes

In the teaser's final shot, there's a dramatic close-up of Xal'atath's eyes. This is where things get interesting—if you pay attention to the reflection in her eyes, a couple of details stand out. First, the intro shows Stormwind upside down, which is a subtle clue.

Second, reflections in the human eye appear inverted because, like a camera, our eyes flip the image upside down and reverse it left to right on the retina. So, if you take the reflection in Xal'atath’s eyes and flip it, you’ll spot Dalaran. This strongly suggests that Xal'atath is gazing directly at Dalaran in the cinematic.
