Watch the overview first
Yesterday’s deep dive covered the Book of Shadows, temporary leveling, and the four Quillgrave specialists. Everything below expands on the potions, scrolls, gear upgrades, talent points, and curiosities found in the data.
The core loop
Progress savesTemporary powerBook of ShadowsLike Plunderstorm
Enter & exitProgress is saved when you leave a tale. Rejoin and continue at the Book of Shadows.
Level up in-runGain levels and temporary empowerments during the tale (similar to Plunderstorm). These reset when the run ends.
Book of ShadowsInteract with this to hop into stories and manage progress.
Reset ruleAll extra power, levels, and empowerments are removed once the run is finished. Permanent upgrades stay.
Note: You can exit and rejoin the same run and keep your temporary progress. Ending the tale clears the temporary power. Permanent hub upgrades (talents, base stats, unlocked potions, curiosities) persist across runs.
Arcanist — Potions, Scrolls & Alkahest
Lilywhistle Bottledrop (the Arcanist) uses Alkahest to increase the potency of potions and scrolls that drop during runs. Consuming potions and reading scrolls also grants Alkahest.
Barrier PotionRestores your barrier.
Healing PotionRestores health.
Alkahest PotionConsuming potions and reading scrolls grants Alkahest.
Zone BottlesFour bottles tied to the zones (Darkhaven, Greywakes, Greenthistle, Court of Night Wisdom). Grant extra experience when killing monsters inside the story.

Vitality / Focus / Energy: Characters have an energy bar and orbs (Focus). Abilities consume different amounts of orbs. Some drops grant extra Focus or increased damage/spell power while inside the tale. These are temporary.
Outfitter — Gearing & Base Stats
Kragg Stonefist (the Outfitter) improves your starting Health, Damage, Energy, and Focus. He is also tied to armor upgrades and cosmetics.
Starting statsPermanent baseline increases to Health, Damage, Energy, and Focus.
Armor upgradesAchievements include upgrading all armor. GM3-style ranks and armor pieces appear in the data.
Outfitter SuppliesCosmetics (Travelers, Villagers, Story, etc.) plus gear materials.
MaterialsCloth, Leather, Metal, and rare crafting materials. Recipes for cloth, leather, and plate exist.
Whether you can fully craft gear inside the mode is still unclear from current data, but the materials and upgrade achievements are present.
Scribe — Talents & Tales of Valor
Thalannis Loretender (the Scribe) spends Tales of Valor to unlock talent points and upgrade abilities on the three Talebound classes: Witch, Slayer, and Inquisitor.
Each story completion and milestones grant Tales of Valor.
More stories = more points.
You can focus one class or spread points across them.
Up to 27 points per class in current data.
Classes: Witch (nature, poison, ravens, thorns), Slayer (sword + gun), Inquisitor (holy light). All share double jump, dodge, and guard. Vertical talent spines with actives, movement, and ultimates.
Antiquarian — Curiosities & Lost Relics
Meryndel Songseeker (the Antiquarian) exchanges Lost Relics for run-altering Curiosities (powerful passive modifiers).
Lost RelicsEight different relics found in data. Turn them in for Curiosities.

Quick tips from the overview
Prioritize permanent hub upgrades (talents, base stats, unlocked consumables) — temporary run power always resets.
Use zone XP bottles and vitality drops while inside a tale to push further in that run.
Save strong scrolls (Power, Curse, Defense) for boss fights.
Collect Lost Relics for Antiquarian curiosities — they change the approach more than raw stats.
Armor upgrade achievements exist; check Outfitter supplies and GM3-style pieces.
