World of Warcraft Patch 12.0.5: Hunters Discover Tameable Void Pets in Void Strike on PTR

In a exciting discovery on the World of Warcraft Public Test Realm (PTR) for patch 12.0.5, players have uncovered what appear to be secret void-themed hunter pets during the new Void Strike activity.

Content creator Moudi, known for his WoW news and guides, captured the moment in a fast-paced video where he tests taming various void-corrupted creatures. The short clip shows him successfully taming at least two creatures that transform into striking void versions upon being added as hunter pets.

The video opens with high-energy reactions as Moudi spots a void hawkstrider (referred to as a "void bird" or "voidy bird"). After taming it, the pet visibly takes on a dark, void-corrupted aesthetic—complete with the eerie purple/black void effects that match other void-themed cosmetics in the game. "Hey guys, we fing got it. There's no way. Look at that. It's a fing void pet," he exclaims while checking the results.

He then experiments with other void-corrupted animals in the Void Strike event:

  • A creature described as a "doey" (possibly a doe or similar animal) that appears corrupted but turns out not to be tameable.

  • A void scorpion, which also successfully tames and adopts the void appearance.

Moudi notes that not all void-corrupted creatures work the same way. Normal (non-elite) animals don't seem to retain the void look after taming, while certain special or elite mobs in the Void Strike activity do transform into unique void pets. He mentions color blindness making it hard to confirm the exact hue in some cases, but the visual transformation is clear on the successful tames.

The hawkstrider stands out as particularly impressive, resembling the void mount available from vendors but in pet form. Moudi speculates about other potential tameable void pets, including a panther in a different Void Strike instance, though he doubts it would be tameable since players normally have to kill it to complete the event.

He also warns that on live servers, Void Strike progresses much faster, so players interested in hunting for these secret pets will need to act quickly.

Why This Matters for Hunters

If these tameable void pets make it to live servers, they could become highly sought-after collector items for Beast Mastery and Survival hunters. Void-themed pets would perfectly complement existing void cosmetics, mounts, and transmogs, adding a fresh layer of customization and rarity to the hunter class in The War Within era.

Moudi ends the video by planning to test more elites, leaving viewers excited about the possibility of even cooler void pets.
