Big Goldmaking Opportunity via Professions - 12.1 Must-Have Consumables

Patch 12.1 introduces powerful new food buffs, potion buffs, and profession crafts that raiders, Mythic+ players, and casuals alike will consume in large quantities. Mastering these recipes not only gives you personal power but creates excellent goldmaking opportunities through crafting high-demand consumables and selling rare materials on the Auction House.

Below is the complete breakdown based on Moudi’s testing.

1. Loa’s Gathering

Recipe source From Jan’sari Gathering. Requires Renown 5 with Zul’jarra’s Forces. Costs 1500 Voidlight Marl.

Materials needed for crafting

  • Ulatek Snakehead

  • Lucky Loa

  • Thalassian Fillet

Farming Ulatek Snakehead Reach Renown 5 with Zul’jarra’s Forces to unlock the fishing recipe for creating Ulatek Snakehead Lure. You need 5 Toxic Tlhapi for each lure.

Best way to farm Toxic Tlhapi: The method differs based on your progress with Captain Tokka.

  • Before reaching rank 3 with Captain Tokka Head to Atal’Utek, the north side where there are venom waters. There are 3 different fishing pools: Venom Pool, Cursed Oddity, and Viscous Venom. The best pool for Toxic Tlhapi is Viscous Venom.

  • After reaching rank 3 This unlocks venom fishing, meaning you can fish in venom water around Atal’Utek without needing specific pools. The entire water area acts as one big fishing zone. You will still proc Toxic Tlhapi, but the majority of catches will be other proc fish.

2. Feast of Knowledge

Recipe source From Second Mate Sluggs (Captain Tokka Reputation vendor). Requires Reputation Rank 4 (Venom Trawler).

Materials needed for crafting

  • Coiled Stargorger

  • Sulfurous Sludgefish

  • Thalassian Fillet

How to farm Coiled Stargorger Coiled Stargorger only appears when using the Coiled Stargorger Lure. First reach rank 3 with Captain Tokka, then buy the recipe from Second Mate Sluggs in Tokka’s Folly (costs 1500 Voidlight Marl).

To create the lure you need one of these sets:

  • 5× Beached Asteroid

  • 5× Bulbous Benthos

  • 5× Pristine Polygon

These are proc items when fishing in venom water (not venom pools). After Rank 3 with Captain Tokka, venom fishing unlocks across the entire venom water area around Atal’Utek. Beached Asteroid is the common proc, Pristine Polygon is the rarest.

Once you have the lure, throw it into pools in Atal’Utek (Venom Pool, Cursed Oddity, Viscous Venom) or on the Coiled Isle. It works on Venom Pools on the normal island. Results vary: one session yielded 8 attempts with 8 Coiled Stargorger, while others gave 3-4 attempts. Don’t forget to increase your Perception for better yields.

How to farm Sulfurous Sludgefish There are small proc chances from venom water, but it’s not ideal. The best way is to look for Bubbling Beryl fishing pools. These reliably reward several Sulfurous Sludgefish from one pool.

3. Concentrated Silvermoon Health Potion

Recipe source From Jan’saru the Watchful vendor. Rank 5 required. Costs 150 Voidlight Marl.

Materials needed

  • 25 Silvermoon Health Potions

A straightforward high-volume conversion recipe perfect for steady goldmaking.

4. Hearty Venom-Spiced Cutlets

Status: Recipe source unknown at this time. Materials also not yet confirmed on the 12.1 PTR. Moudi will update as soon as more information surfaces.

5. Puffer Plate

Recipe source (likely) From Second Mate Sluggs (Captain Tokka Reputation vendor). Requires Reputation Rank 3.

Materials needed for crafting

  • Thalassian Fillet

  • Polluted Puffer

  • Pouch of Spice

  • Neutralized Venom Clot

Where to farm Polluted Puffer This is not a rare/proc fish — you will always loot several. Best fishing pools:

  • Cursed Oddity (located on the Coiled Isle and inside Atal’Utek)

  • Willow Sea (located on the Coiled Isle)

  • Viscous Venom (inside Atal’Utek) — not recommended as primary spot

Where to farm Neutralized Venom Clot

A new 12.1 activity called Curse Surge has 5 locations around the Coiled Isle. Completing it grants a buff that unlocks special loot from gathering and fishing.

Some Herbalism and Mining nodes transform into Envenomed Nodes. Interacting (channeling) with an Envenomed Node triggers a burst of Neutralized Venom Clots on the ground. You start the channel and other players can help. It appears that the clots can be picked up by anyone. Expect around 10 Neutralized Venom Clots per node.

6. Liquid Luster

Recipe source (likely) From vendor “Skull of Er’inye” located inside Atal’Utek next to the Altar of Corrosion. Sold for 2500 Corrosive Coins + 150 Artisan Alchemist Moxies.

Materials needed

  • Neutralized Venom Clot

  • Cursebound Globe

  • Sunglass Vial

  • Tranquility Bloom

  • Sanguithorn

Farming Neutralized Venom Clot and Cursebound Globe Use the same Curse Surge activity and buff from above.

  • Neutralized Venom Clots drop from Envenomed Nodes (see Puffer Plate section).

  • Cursebound Globes come from specially named “Cursed…” herb and ore nodes that appear in the Curse Surge area while the buff is active. Looting each one rewards a Cursebound Globe.

Goldmaking & Progression Priority (Moudi’s PTR Recommendations)

  • Focus on Captain Tokka reputation early — Rank 3 unlocks venom fishing and several key recipes/lures. Rank 4+ opens more big crafts.

  • Push Zul’jarra’s Forces Renown for Loa’s Gathering access.

  • Participate in every Curse Surge event — the buff is critical for farming Neutralized Venom Clots and Cursebound Globes, which are used across multiple premium crafts.

  • Stack Fishing Perception when using lures for maximum efficiency.

  • These consumables will see heavy demand in 12.1. Crafting them in volume or supplying raw materials (especially new proc fish and event drops) is a strong goldmaking avenue.

This in-depth guide is compiled directly from Moudi’s live 12.1 PTR streams and testing. As more details emerge (especially for Hearty Venom-Spiced Cutlets), the guide will be updated.
