Detailed Guide: Curse Surge Full Guide & Rewards – Activity in Coiled Isle (Patch 12.1 Curse of Ula’tek)

Intro & Overview
Curse Surges are a new outdoor activity in Patch 12.1 on the Coiled Isle.
Active in five different locations around the zone.
Two-phase event:
Phase 1 – Group task that fills a progress bar.
Phase 2 – Fight a rare elite boss.
Phase 1 tasks (examples):
Destroy eggs until the broodmother descends.
Kill snake mobs to save people until a leader joins the fight.
Stop snake mobs from empowering a big snake.
Clean up a mess caused by a flying creature.
Fill the bar together with other players, then kill the rare elite.
Rewards
Every completion (unlimited per day) gives a Venom Soaked Satchel containing:
Gold
10 Adventure Crests
40 Voidlight Motes
Daily rare elite loot (once per day per rare):
Warbound Adventure gear
50 Voidlight Marl
75 Coffy Key Shards
Renown upgrades (Zul’jarra’s Forces):
Renown 4 → Chance for Corrosive Soul daily loot (important for outdoor/Delve power buffs).
Renown 8 → Daily loot upgrades from Adventure gear to Warbound Veteran gear.
Mount drop:
Chance at Ruby Rife (three snakes combined into one mount).
One of several color variants of this style of mount available in 12.1.
On PTR it took ~35 Surges to see one (PTR drop rates are often higher than live).
Diver’s Key Fragment (Ancient Amani Mask)
One specific rare elite (Sacrithos / Sacrios, top-right area) drops Diver’s Key Fragments.
Only this rare drops the fragments (confirmed by testing other rares).
Collect 3 fragments → craft a Diver’s Key.
Use the key on the Sunken Diver Chest (north part of the separate island in the top-right corner of the map).
Jump into the water and open the chest.
Reward: Ancient Amani Mask (toy)
15-minute cooldown.
Overlays a mask on top of your current transmog (does not replace anything).
Grants a 10-minute buff (“Ancient Amani Mask – Wearing an ancient mask, it feels like it’s part of you”).
Cursed Gathering (Fishing & Herbs/Ores)
After completing a Curse Surge, the area gains the Cursed Land and Waters buff.
Fishing:
Enables cursed fishing (catch fish outside pools).
Common fish: Dirty Darter, Spotted Killifish, Toxic Thalpy.
Chance at 6 different cursed fish (location-dependent).
These count toward the Angler of the Coiled Isle achievement → rewards Sinful Pearl (used to recolor the snake transformation from the Coiled Huntress fishing rod).
With the special fishing rod (from Captain Tokka reputation) you also get extra cursed artery pools + Twin-Headed Snipe in the local venom pools.
Herbs & Ores:
Some nodes become envenomed or cursed.
Envenomed → Neutralized Venom Clot.
Cursed → Cursebound Globes.
Both are important 12.1 crafting reagents.

Achievements
Turn the Surge – Defeat all rare elites across the five Curse Surge locations.
The Curse Breaker – Complete 300 Curse Surges total → rewards the title “the Curse Breaker”.
Practical Tips
Cooldown between Surges is long — they are not up constantly.
Check both PvP and non-PvP shards.
Use Group Finder: join any group (even for other activities) to switch realms and look for active Surges.
Group up — the events are designed for multiple players.
