The 12.1.7 Public Test Realm (PTR) has been updated and is now available for testing as the Talebound demo launches today.
Talebound will be available for testing this Halloween weekend, from October 30 at 10:00 a.m. PDT through November 2 at 10:00 a.m. PDT — perfectly timed for the spooky season and covering Halloween itself on October 31.
The dark, macabre theme of Talebound makes it an ideal fit for the Halloween weekend. Prepare to be drawn into the eerie world of Talebound, where you become part of the dark chronicles of a mysterious Storyteller, chillingly brought to life in a new PvE action RPG game mode. Venture solo or with friends through eerie tales where danger is written on every page. Battle fearsome enemies and bosses, solve perplexing puzzles, discover treasure and relics, and earn Bound Silver for cosmetic rewards as you delve deeper into the Storyteller’s twisted creations.

What’s in the Demo
According to Blizzard’s official announcement, no subscription is required to take part. The demo includes:
- Introduction: Red Hollow — the start of your adventure in the hub of Quillgrave, where a lone traveler encounters the Storyteller.
- Three Tales: Darkhaven, Greenthistle Wood, and Greywake’s Expedition (the fourth tale, Grove of the Night Court, is reserved for the full launch).
- Three Classes: Slayer, Inquisitor, and Witch. Each emphasizes movement and defense with double jump, dodge, and guard options, plus unique abilities (from sword-and-gun martial prowess to holy zeal or darker witchcraft involving lightning, ravens, spiders, and transformations).
- Three Difficulty Levels: Normal, Veteran, and Heroic.
Across the tales, players will face unique enemies, mechanics, and puzzles while experimenting with progression systems involving NPCs in Quillgrave such as the Arcanist, Scribe, Outfitter, and Antiquarian.
Blizzard notes that several Talebound talents are still in progress and fine-tuning is ongoing, as is typical for PTR testing. Dive into the demo this Halloween weekend, try the available features, and share your feedback.
More details on the Talebound demo can be found in the official article: Join in the Talebound Demo on 30 October.
This limited-time preview gives players a first hands-on look at the spooky, story-driven action RPG mode right in the middle of Halloween weekend, ahead of its full arrival with patch 12.1.7.
