Best Curuios to use in Patch 12.1.5
Watch the short first
This page is the loadout from the 12.1.5 curio short. Combat slot, utility slot, and why the BIS moved.
The swap
Dusty Loa Totem
Combat curio. On entering combat, and again every 60 seconds while you stay in combat, you get one of two buffs for 30 seconds. It rolls each time. You do not pick the buff.
| Roll | What it does | Why it is the combat slot |
|---|---|---|
| Might of the Loa | Claw sigils. Max health and primary stat. Pass line was +20% health and +12% Strength. Published rank 5 line is +25% health and +15% primary stat. | This is the one-shot insurance on a tier 11 chamber. |
| Grace of the Loa | Feather sigils. Speed and haste. Pass line was +20% speed and +12% haste. Published rank 5 line is +25% speed and +15% haste. | This is the damage-check roll. Objectives that are a timer, not a mechanic. |
Viperwind Idol
Utility curio. In combat, your spells and abilities can turn you into a venom vortex. You keep moving and casting. That is the whole point of a utility curio in a labyrinth: the mechanic still happens, and the idol is dealing damage while you do it.
- A furious vortex ticks Nature damage to nearby enemies every 0.5 seconds.
- Venom hardens around you and cuts damage taken by 50% on the published rank 5 line.
- Pools drop under you, damage anything standing in them, then explode for a second hit.
- Enemies further than 8 yards get pulled in every 0.5 seconds. The same enemy can only be pulled once every 4 seconds.
The pull is real. Valeera can stun something you just dragged. Do not treat the idol as a grouping tool you build a route around. Treat it as free damage and a damage-taken cut while you do the chamber objective.
Where rank 5 comes from
Rank 1 with The Labyrinth of Kindo'jan is the switch. That rank is what lets labyrinth end chests drop rank 5 curios. A normal delve chest does not. If you are still running Season 2 bountifuls for curio ranks, you are farming the old ceiling.
| Source | What you get | What you do not get |
|---|---|---|
| Normal delve | The curios you already have, up to the old cap. | Rank 5. |
| Labyrinth end chest, after rank 1 | Rank 5 curios, including the two new ones. | A guaranteed Dusty Loa Totem. It is a drop, not a quest reward. |
| Kindo'jan | A random unowned rank 5 curio is on the nemesis chest in current coverage. | A reason to skip the end chests on the way there. |
What to equip
- Put Dusty Loa Totem in the combat slot as soon as you have it. Rank it before you rank the idol.
- Put Viperwind Idol in the utility slot. It does not replace the totem. It sits next to it.
- If you already have Halazzi's Shroud from the rank 9 rooms, that cheat-death is still the panic button on a tier 11. The totem does not make the shroud useless.
- If a chamber is a pure damage check and you do not have the totem yet, Nalorakk's primary-stat power from the rank 7 rooms is the bridge. It is not the new BIS.
- Leave Corrosive Bilespear and Soul-Cracking Dreamcatcher in the bag once both new ranks are equipped. They are the Season 2 pair, not the 12.1.5 pair.
Rules that will waste the rank
- Two tooltips, one curio. The pass line on the totem was 20% and 12%. The published rank 5 line is 25% and 15%. Equip the rank you actually have. Do not quote the rank 5 number on a rank 1 drop.
- The buff is random. Might or Grace. You do not toggle it. A pull can hand you haste when you wanted health.
- 30 seconds, then 60. It is not a permanent aura. It fires on pull and again every minute you stay in combat.
- Rank 5 is labyrinth-only. Reputation rank 1 first. Then the end chest. A tier 11 normal delve does not print these.
- Utility is not a second combat slot. Viperwind pulls and shields, but the combat slot is still the totem if you are pushing the tiers that one-shot.
